Dr. James Noftle is currently an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with five years of experience in both private practice and hospital settings. He was born in Boston, MA and lived in several New England states during his childhood and adolescence. James received his B.S. in Special Education/Elementary Education at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA, and eventually a Master's Degree in School Administration at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA.
James has been an educator for 34 years with extensive experience teaching in public schools, residential programs, Assistant Principal, and Director of several learning centers. After residing in VA for 20 years, James returned to his alma mater to teach in the School of Education at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA. In addition, James received his Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. His applied dissertation focused on teaching reading strategies to teachers to improve student literacy. Dr. Noftle was allowed complete access to an inner-city school in downtown Boston, MA, where he conducted research and implemented professional development workshops to teachers.
After residing in VA for 20 years, James returned to his alma mater to teach in the School of Education at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA. He became the Multiple Subject Director, Graduate Reading Director, Academic Advisor, and Supervisor of Student Teachers, while teaching both graduate and undergraduate classes. In 2006, James moved to CA where he taught in the School of Education at Azusa Pacific University. Dr. Noftle taught in the Multiple Subject Program Department and Graduate Curriculum and Instruction Department. He became the Lead Professor of Literacy, Supervisor of Student Teachers, Teacher Performance Assessment Coordinator, and Researcher. James has scholarly work in both national and international publications and has presented his research at numerous conferences throughout the United States. James has one daughter, Kelli, who resides in San Diego with her husband. James enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, and restoring furniture.
